Lennart BengtssonLennart Bengtsson serves as President of the Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (EEMEA) division of Nielsen, the world’s largest marketing information provider. In this position, Lennart is responsible for overall management, business performance and strategic direction of Nielsen in the EEMEA region, which covers more than 50 countries. He is a member of the global Nielsen Executive Council (NEC) and reports to Mr. David Calhoun, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Lennart is based in Nicosia, Cyprus.
Lennart has been with Nielsen’s Consumer Group (previously ACNielsen) for more than 20 years and has held a number of roles of increasing responsibility within the company. At the beginning of January 2002, he spent four years as Managing Director, ACNielsen Japan. In addition to his responsibilities as Managing Director Japan, Lennart maintained responsibility for the company's marketing and communications’ functions across the Asia Pacific region. He greatly improved ACNielsen’s position in the market by enhancing product offering and quality standards, strengthening its organizational structure, and deepening its relationships with clients. Prior to his role in Japan, Lennart was the Managing Director of ACNielsen Singapore and Malaysia from 1998 to 2002 and held various senior positions with ACNielsen Australia before his postings in Southeast Asia.
Prior to joining ACNielsen, Lennart was Marketing Manager at SMEDBO AB in Sweden. Previous to this, he worked as the Assistant to the Swedish Trade Commissioner with the Swedish Trade Commission in Australia, as well as the British Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Sweden. Both roles made active use of market research and analysis.
Lennart obtained his Degree in Business Administration with distinction from the University of Lund, Sweden, while majoring in International Marketing Management from the University of Uppsala, Sweden.
